This stands for Physician Assistant-Certified. P.A.s complete four years of college, followed by a two-year medical training program that includes numerous clinical rotations. Most P.A. programs also require two years of employment in a medical back office or hospital setting as a condition of admission. P.A.s work in association with a physician.
Nurse Practitioner is a Master’s Degree awarded only to Registered Nurses (RNs) who have completed the necessary graduate work. Nancy Warner carries the Family Nurse Practitioner degree, FNP, reflecting her specialization in family nursing. N.P.s can practice without the supervision of a physician.
