Dear Valued Patient,
We would like to reassure you that we are doing our best to protect your health
during the current Coronavirus / COVID-19 pandemic. Our offices remain open
and very stringent hygiene precautions are in place. We are prepared to safely
evaluate and treat patients, especially those needing chronic disease
management and with acute non-respiratory infection problems.
If you have any symptoms of respiratory infection such as fever, cough, nasal
congestion, sore throat or shortness of breath, do not enter the office.
Instead, call the respective Jackson Medical Group office and speak with a
receptionist. Currently, we are screening patients with a “Testing Triage Tool”
developed by the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department with
assistance from Cottage Health and Sansum Clinic. Either a receptionist or
medical assistant will ask you several questions and take your telephone
number. One of our medical providers will then call you within a reasonable
time and perform a telephone assessment. Recommendations will be made
regarding further assessment and potential treatment.
Laboratory testing kits and protective supplies for this infection are in very short
supply. Furthermore, there are concerns about the accuracy of the current
diagnostic tests available in this country.
Please keep in mind that there are large amounts of information available
online, some of which is inaccurate. Please check updates from only reliable
sources such as the Centers for Disease Control, the World Health Organization
and the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department.
