HIV Screening
HIV is the virus that causes AIDS. The Center for Disease Control and the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force both recommend HIV screening for all patients, ages 13 to 64. The guidelines for routine HIV screening were issued because 25% of the HIV-infected population in the U.S. is unaware they are infected. Because it is a standard preventative measure, the test should be covered by all insurance plans at no cost to patients.
